Dear friends, the port of Maiori, after its grand opening, has never been able to bring benefits to the country. I have lost count of how many times this port has been submitted for further work after the initial ones, to cope with problems that have come to create over the years as water leaks in the parking lot below and in the various shops , or the accumulation of sand in the bottom of the port due to strong storms and a probable error of construction of the external arm of the harbor, that cause this kind of problem, to which, whenever you need to sort through machines that drain the seabed . All European funds, which previously has been allocated to develop the entire structure, were used to repair the damage caused by neglect and the speed of those who carried out the work to ensure that the renovation was completed at the date of the inauguration. An old saying
said "If he Majuro 'or Puorto, Amalfi was' Mieze muorto" ("If the port had Maiori, Amalfi would be half dead") but unfortunately this said, does not reflect reality, because the Maiori port it has, but it seems to me that Amalfi is still alive and well, much of Maiori. So if you want to make this saying true, my proposals are:
- Ensure that the company "Porto SPA", remains in majority owned by the City and the remaining individuals, but these should help to develop the entire property;
- Open all the shops, at least in summer, to promote employment and trade;
- Keep under control the whole port, through a REAL video surveillance, especially the upper outer arm, which is often a meeting place for shady people and vandals;
- Reclaim the whole area, from the green spaces, often invaded by rats, and keep a some cleaning of fountains not only during the summer;
- Making the most of the huge space of the amphitheater, not just a few events summer, but throughout the year;
- Making the port of Maiori, a point of reference for service "The ways of the sea", active in summer and linking with the Amalfi Coast to Salerno; increase outward and the arrival of the ferries to and from Capri, and other areas of high tourism;
- Making the most of the large parking lot below, with appropriate rules of payment.
accepted, with pleasure, any proposals and / or food for thought.
you soon!
Marcello Crivelli
